About our sarongs:

We import most of out sarongs from Indonesia, where they are made by the batik method. Batik is a very ancient craft dating back at least two thousand years. Batik has been continuosly practiced in Java for centuries. Layers of wax and dye are applied by handand washed and dried in the sun to bring out the colors. This process has been passed on from one generation to another and is mainly based on the flora and fauna of the surroundings. This ancient art produces beautiful, one of a kind fabrics that you will cherish for many years to come.

 

Our batik sarongs are lovingly crafted by hand, one by one. The inconsistencies you might find are not mistakes, but proof positive that the spirit of individual human craftmanship is still alive and well.
