The second edition of our Atlantic Forum 'web-'zine' (horrible word) is hereby launched with this month's article of interest, written by Víctor, teacher of English phonology at the University of Córdoba. I must admit , I was a little worried at having a second article on pronunciation so soon, but my worries, I soon discovered, were unfounded.
As you read the article, you will, if you are like me, hear a little voice at the back of your mind, saying 'hm; this is mostly applicable for, say, grammar teaching, too', as we are considering the teacher as model - whether good, or bad. And the ideas are not limited to English, as the concepts are equally true for the teaching of any language.
Besides, there is an very interesting, potentially controversial debate on 'who is better: the native, or the non-native teacher?' (aha! Food for thought...) part way through the article, a debate which had me thinking "Oh-oh! Have I got charisma or not?", and wondering about my own language learning experiences, as well as how proficient or efficient I may or may not be. Teacher paranoia..............???!!
So, last but not least, I'd like to welcome Víctor to the Forum and hope that he will be appearing on the page regularly. Enjoy your reading!
